MINISTRY OF EDUCATION
COMMUNITY USE OF SCHOOLS GRANT
In an effort to create affordable access to community facilities the Government of Ontario has developed the Community Use of Schools Grant which subsidizes rental rates for non-profit organizations use of school facilities outside of regular school hours. Through the grant the Ministry of Education provides limited funding to school boards to off-set costs incurred by the use of their facilities. This is an annual grant which may be reviewed in the future. Should the grant be discontinued, non-subsidized rates apply. Through this grant, Category B and C programs are eligible for financial assistance with rental and staffing fees. To view hourly rental fees AFTER the Community Use of Schools Grant has been applied please click here.
MINISTRY OF EDUCATION
PRIORITY SCHOOLS INITITAIVE
Through the Priority Schools Initiative, an element of the Community Use of Schools program, the Ministry of Education provides funding to select school boards in order that non-profit organizations may have 'free' after-hours access to school facilities in communities that need it most. Fully subsidized use of school space provides non-profit organizations the ability to offer affordable or no-cost programming. The Ministry of Education has provided the Lambton Kent District School Board with Priority Schools Initiative funding for one school for the 2012-2013 school year - North Lambton Secondary School, which is located in Forest, Ontario.
